Hello there, stranger! To say its been a long time would be the biggest understatement of 2014! As the end of the year approaches, so does my urge to blog again. I feel like since coming to university I've done nothing but laze about & watch Gossip Girl (doesn't mean I regret it!) Some say you shouldn't wait for a new year to make changes - as much as I agree, I also think that sometimes a new year is what you need. It's a chance to say goodbye to bad habits, let go of grudges, eliminate the negative & move on to better things. That being said, here's some of my resolutions for the new year..

|| Have a positive attitude towards life
|| Attempt one good deed a day
|| Spend less time over-thinking and worrying
|| Be more organised
|| Don't be afraid to tell people how I feel
|| Exercise
|| Create a playlist on Spotify each month
|| Give away clothes I don't wear
|| Challenge my comfort zone
|| Make an Acai Bowl
|| Blog more frequently
|| Say goodbye to weirdly shaped eyebrows
|| Drink more water
|| Don't let anxiety or panic stop me from doing my thang
|| Find the perfect red lipstick
|| Complete the 30-day-shred
|| Read more books, magazines and blogs
|| Go to at least three gigs
|| Less chocolate, more veggies
|| Go to another country in Europe
|| Get a new look
|| Save and be smarter with money
|| Remember it's work before play
|| Buy a new acoustic guitar
|| Do something for the first time

What are you resolutions for the new year?
(Happy new year x)

The lack of footwear I have is unreal, every year there is a perfect pair of boots that I cannot afford and when winter arrives I'm left wearing flats. Recently I was looking around on the TKMAXX site and came across these babies. Other than the fact that they are insanely beautiful, the prices that they are is crazy. The platform boots are £24.99 and the chelsea boots are £19.99. I bought them both seeing as they were so cheap and the price combined is what I'd pay for one pair anyway. I've been wearing both non-stop and can't believe they are so cheap and such good quality, I was expecting the heels and platforms to be foamy or plastic but they're really sturdy. I'd definetely recommend everyone check out TKMaxx's footwear section, they have so many boots and shoes at great prices. I'm excited to wear these two during winter.

Hello friends
I do apologise for my impromptu break from blogging, life has been all over the place and I didn't really feel I had anything to blog about. Things have calmed down now and I have collected some basic clothing essentials that will be great for university.

Striped Top - Primark (via Depop) - £5

Stripes are always a yes, they look good dressed up with a big statement necklace and dressed down with jeans. I like this top because it's boxy and more black than white and that just makes it easier to wear with everything. I've been wearing this non-stop and won't be stopping anytime soon!

Update + OOTD | A Place We Call New

Jumper - Charity Shop | Skirt - Matalan | Shoes - Primark | Lipstick -  Bourjois in "Nude-ist"

Hello lovelies, it's been a while!

Not much has changed since my last post, but I did (if it's not obvious) get my septum pierced! I was getting bored of my nose ring and have always loved septum piercings so I decided I'd go for it. I also got a temporary job at Next for a bit of summer, I actually had my first day today and it was actually quite nice. I am very scared for the sale to start on Saturday though, I do hope the customers don't go all crazy! The last bit of exciting news that I actually recieved today is that I got into university! It feels surreal, I wasn't expecting my results until next month and then all of a sudden I got an email from UCAS telling me my conditional offer has changed to unconditional, I am a very happy girl.

I've been wanting to feature this white jumper for a couple of months now and it's such a shame that I waited until the colour faded into an off-white to show it! I came across this skirt in Matalan a couple of months ago and thought it was so cute. I never actually bought it as I didn't think it would look right on me but I saw it again when out shopping the other day and saw the £4 price tag and thought it would be rude not to! It's super high waisted and says on the tag that it's part of a two-piece set, it would be lovely to find the top to this as I'm loving co-ords this season. The skirt fits much better than expected, it didn't look very skatery when I first saw it, but on it does! I paired these two items with a nude/pink lip and pointy flats.

OOTD | All the pretty stars shine for you, my love

Cami - £8, Hotpants £5 - Clothesminded* | Shirt -River Island |  Boots - River Island

Hello all, how are you?
I have been absent from blogging due to life stresses and college work, but yesterday I finally finished my two years at college and am already feeling bored of summer!

Any hoo, I was so happy to be sent these hotpants from clothesminded as I'm always in the same bottoms, it's nice for a change. I've been wearing these hotpants religiously, they're so comfy and don't stretch after wearing or washing them (winning!).What I love about these hotpants is that they're very weather appropriate and super high waisted! They look great paired with absolutely anything, I almost feel like I should be on a beach! I forgot to take a clear picture but they have two big pockets at the front, such a nice touch and so useful for summer if you don't want to carry around a bag.  I paired these pants with another item from clothesminded, it's this tribal print cami that has a fringe, so paired with the hotpants gives off a festival-y vibe! I topped this all off with a red shirt, I'm not one for showing arms so I think this makes a nice cover up.

Review | Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - Pink Pong

Bourjois - Pink Pong (£8.99)

I've been going a bit crazy on the Boots and Superdrug 3 for 2 offers these past couple of days.. it's pure evil! A few weeks ago my friend was searching for a new lipstick and came across the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet collection and purchased one in 'Ole Flamingo'. It looked so nice on her that I decided I needed it too. I tried it on and realised it looked almost exactly the same as my Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquer in 'Apocalyptic' so instead I picked up Pink Pong and well.. here we are today!

For me, if it's not matte, it's not going on my lips. When first trying on Pink Pong, I wasn't very pleased as it was shiny and very pigmented. After a couple of seconds it dried up and became this amazing, bold, matte pinky/purple colour and instantly became one of my all time favourite lip products! (The pictures aren't even close to how amazing it looks)

Bourjois say they leave lips feeling "smooth" and "soft as velvet" which I half agree with as they have these effects but can feel a tad sticky when rubbing lips together. They also claim to last for 24 hours without needing constant touch-ups which I'd completely agree with. Whilst wearing this I had a meal and didn't even need to re-apply after. One major downfall to lipstick is when it gets on your teeth but I've not had this problem with this lip lacquer, it's so  incredibly matte and not at all drying so it'll be perfect for summer.

I've had some lovely comments on this already and will definitely be purchasing more. I do wish they had more colours in this range though as it's basically what I've been searching for my whole life!

OOTD | The Kimono

Kimono - Clothesminded* | Vest - Primark | Belt - Charity Shop | Skirt - Amazon | Rings - Waiste & H&M

Hey all, it's good to be blogging again. These last few weeks of college have been stressful and the last remaining weeks are crucial, it's nearly over now and I'm so excited to just relax for the rest of the summer.

 I will be collaborating with one of my favourite online stores, Clothesminded and reviewing some goodie goodies! First, I was sent this beautiful abstract kimono, it's been such a life saver for the hot days we've been having recently. I have a thing about cardigans, coats and all that coming up higher than my waist, I have to have them longer or I won't like it, so it was such a thrill so see this one being the perfect length, it's also super lightweight, good quality and not too sheer. I styled it with just some basic black items and popped on a few rings for that festival-y vibe. This kimono is only £5 on the clothesminded site, all their kimonos are £2-£5 and go back to £10 this coming monday! What a great way to kick off the summer.

What clothing item will be your summer essential this year?

OOTD | It's a wonder you don't know how wonderful you are

Dress - H&M | Boots - River Island | Lipstick - Rimmel "Kiss of Life"

Hello all, happy Friday! I can't believe it's the weekend already, the weeks have been going so fast, I need to catch up. Only four weeks left of education then I am free free free! (well.. not if I don't finish my work!). I bought this dress last month to wear on a night out. I purchased it from H&M for an amazing £7. It is sheer at the top with a V-line that shows off cleavage! The blue parts are velvet and the back is scooped. I never really wear dresses that show so much flesh but I was definitely feeling frisky then! I paired the dress with my River Island boots to keep it casual!

March | Wishlist

March Wishlist
Life has been so busy recently with college and all of it's deadlines. I started this year with a positive attitude towards blogging, making sure I'd do at least 4 posts per month.. and here I am with 1 post done in March! I want to start blogging properly when I get all my work done and save some money for some new clothes! Anyway, here's my (late) March Wishlist! <3

1 - Patterned bottoms are so in right now and whilst on a hunt for Sammi's pair on River Island, I came across a similar version. I love the pattern and like Sammi's it would look nice dressed down and with a belt (which awesomely comes with the trousers).

2/3 - I have a massive love for striped tops, I just love how casual they are and I think it's super important to own at least one! 1 is from Topshop and I like the black background and thin white lines, these shirt would probably look good with any colour lipstick! I could also see this crop top being paired with one of those adorable ballerina type skirts.

4 - Co-ords have been very popular recently, I imagine they will be a favourite this spring/summer. What I like about this pair is that the top/jacket have sleeves, most co-ords I see are sleeveless so it's nice to see a change. I love the rolled sleeves, colours and the patterns.

5 - Over the past couple of months I think it's fair to say that trainers have been getting very popular again. The last time I wore trainers were probably when I was in primary school and after that I never thought I'd actually want a pair.. but after seeing many photos on Tumblr I've been persuaded and now I feel I need a pair! I've seen quite a few people purchase these Nike Air Force 1's in black and white. I really love the white pair and since black is what I wear most of the time, it would be nice for a pop of colour to end it with!

6 - Recently I've been liking Matalan. It came as a surprise to me that their items are actually quite good! As soon as I saw this coat on their site I knew I had to put it up on this wishlist. Pastels are always in around this time so I think this would be the perfect coat for spring and summer. It's lightweight and cropped and looks seriously good with the outfit it has been styled with! There's also a longer version which is just as beautiful!

PerksOfBeingAlly 2nd Birthday & Bill's Restaurant

Two years ago on February 28th 2012 I made this blog. I'm honestly so shocked I've stuck it out for another year as I've been way more busy than when I first started blogging. Since this past year my blog has grown so much; I only had 183 followers and I now have over 300, I produce much better content (I'm loving just doing outfits and wishlists). I just love blogging as it's my own space, I get to do what I want to do and when I want to do it, it's such a fun escape. Here's to another year! <3

On a different note.. a couple of weeks ago I went to Bill's in Covent Garden with Vanese and Sian. I've seen lots of good reviews on Bill's so I was really excited to try it out. When we arrived I fell in love with the scenery, it was all so cute and homey. On the walls were hundreds of sauces that you can purchase, the tables had candles on them and when it got dark they'd light them all up and the room looked so beautiful. When we sat down we were offered drinks and decided to get water, the water came in a large glass jug which was useful since the cups were quite small and it would be annoying to keep asking for more water.
Everything on the menu sounded amazing and I'm pretty sure I've never seen such an inexpensive one before! I went with the Halloumi and Hummus burger with Skinny Sweet Potato Fries which was served on a wooden board, I'm a big lover of hummus, so paired with Halloumi.. I was bound to fall in love. And Underneath is a picture of Vanese's Cod Fish Finger Sandwhich with Fries which she said she also loved!

Bill's was such a nice restaurant and the staff were very friendly, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to go to out to eat but doesn't want to spend too much.They also have free wifi, so they've basically won me over. I'll definitely be visiting again <3

OOTD | I've been losing sleep, dreaming about the things that we could be

Lace Top - Charity Shop | Skirt - MissLuxe | Flats - Primark | Rings - Waiste & Primark | Lipstick - MAC "Russian Red"

Skater Maxi Skirts have become quite popular recently, so on the last day of January I purchased this lovely black pleated maxi skirt from MissLuxe for an amazing price of £15 (I'm almost certain this was the only one under £30). When it arrived I really really loved it, but I had nothing to pair it with, a week later in my two hour lunch break I found this beautiful lace polo top. I wore it with flats because I'm not a fan of heels and anything with a flatform made me look even shorter than I am! I matched the red flats with MAC's Russian Red and popped on a hair donut. I think monochrome always look good with a pop of red.

Wishlist | February

Feb Wishlist

This month I've been loving essentials and summer-esque bits

One : Monki
Zosia Cardigan - I really love big oversized cardigans, this one from Monki is so similar to an American Apparel one that I like and is just as expensive! This would be so lovely to throw on in summer on a humid evening.

Two : Shell Pink Chiffon ShirtI really like the colour of this boxy blouse from New Look, a nice colour for spring. I'm really digging how long the sleeves are too. I think this blouse would look really nice with a black PVC mini skirt!

ThreeThe Jules Bag by Marc B - I was totally blown away by this beautiful burgundy Marc B bag when on the Topshop site. This is such a lovely every day bag that I would love to be carrying around with me in summer. I'd say burgundy is quite a versatile colour so this bag would probably go with every outfit.

FourSevered Heads, Broken Hearts by Robyn SchneiderI came across this book whilst on Amazon, it's about a a seventeen-year-old boy called Ezra Faulkner who some say has the "perfect life" until one day his life is turned upside down after a tragic car accident causing him to break his knees. He can no longer achieve his dream in the athletic career and is no longer popular. He then meets a girl called Cassidy Thorpe and she is someone who is unlike anyone Ezra has ever met and together they discover new adventures! I'm a sucker for a love story and nearly every review I've read on this book says that it's fairly similar to The Fault in Our Stars and I love that book so I think I'll thoroughly enjoy this one!

Five : Lucy Lace Bra - Triangle Lace Bras are the only things I see on Tumblr these days and everyone looks beautiful in them. I've put way too many triangle bra's in my wishlists to not have one by now, it's one of those things I always forgot to buy when I have money! I love how cute and dainty they look.

Six : Topshop Tika2 High Vamp Skaters - I've seen many different versions of these slip on's everywhere recently (I'm pretty sure their a dupe of someone's but I can't remember who!) I've really been loving how people have been styling them with jeans and printed pants. These ones are a bargain at £20 on Topshop, I love the croc effect and the mono colours which make them easy to wear with almost anything!

OOTD | To outplay is not to love

Shirts - Primark / Necklace - Topshop / Boots - River Island / Lipstick - MAC 'Russian Red'

On Friday I spent my evening, night (& morning!) with Sian and Vanese. We got ready at Sian's - who has an awesome Nikon camera so of course I couldn't not take some good quality pictures, thanks Sian! I bought this crop top from Primark for £10. I never spend over £5 on a single item in Primark but this blouse was totally worth it. I wore Vanese's gold cat necklace that I got her from Topshop for Christmas and wore my skater skirt and belt from New Look, I can't resist a black and gold colour scheme! I saw some other shirts in Primark that I will definitely be going back for, I'm loving their new S/S stock. Even though summer isn't coming anytime soon it's still nice to be able to wear non-knitwear related items.

I've added a new "Shop My Closet" section on my blog. If you don't know what that is, it's where you can quite literally.. buy things from my closet! There's only a few things on there, I have more to add and I have even more items on Depop (username is "AllyRetro").

I've been loving lots of music recently, I've been loving Beyonce's new album (Partition has been on repeat for days!) I've also been loving Bombay Bicycle Club's new album "So Long, See You Tomorrow" one of my favourites from the album is "Come To", this song gives me massive nostalgic feelings, it's a really great song, have a listen.

OOTD ft Mr Nutcase | Stop making a big deal out of the little things

 photo 112_zpsae099755.png photo PicMonkeyCollage5_zps77716233.png
Cardigan, Leggings - Primark | Shirt - ASOS | Boots - River Island | Chain - H&M | Ring - Waiste | Case - Mr Nutcase*

Happy February! I've been meaning to feature this shirt Vanese got me for Christmas so I thought leggings with my boots would do the job! I paired it with my burgundy cardigan I bought last year in Primark. I do love this cardigan, I just wish it wasn't so bobbly, think I might need to invest in some more!

My phonecase is from Mr Nutcase. I chose to do a customised one with this 3D cat design I found on Tumblr (and because of the 3D illusion, when I turn on my phone torch it lights up and looks super badass) and then I added "Feline Meow" as a sort of pun! I do wish there were more layouts when designing, but other than that everything else is brilliant. The quality of the case is really good, it doesn't look cheap or show any obvious outlines. The delivery was fast and if you like their Facebook page you get a free screen protector. You can get a case for almost anything that needs a case at an amazing price of only £15!

NEW IN | River Island Chunky Ankle Boots

River Island - Ankle Boots

You may notice these boots from my last wishlist post, all my shoes are either broken or very worn out so I thought I'd take the plunge and purchase these. I'm the kind of person to buy footwear from Primark for no more than £8 so buying these for £40 was a very hard task, I was praying I'd hate them when they arrived but unfortunately I fell deeply in love with them and now have no regrets! The boots feel very well made and strong. When trying them on I thought they'd feel really heavy but they felt completely normal, the fit is amazing too, there is just enough space for your foot to breathe and it's not too tight on the leg. I adore the quilted panels, they make them look just that bit different and the silver zips top it all off. I went on a walk for an hour in these and they were super comfortable. I'm happy that the platform is so small because it allows me to wear them on a casual day without looking over the top. Buying these boots has made me realise that I really need to spend a bit more than a few pounds on footwear because at the end of the day they're going to last longer and that's cheaper for me in the long run.
Overall, I'm very happy with these boots and can't wait to style them with everything!
