I wish I was one of those people that could read a different book each week, but unfortunately I have the attention span of a fish and dedicating myself to a book is about as difficult as figuring out what filter I want to use for an Instagram picture! A few weeks ago I watched Orion Carloto's 'Books I've been reading' video, one book she mentioned was Memories by Lang Leav. Memories features a collection of poems from Lang's two previous books Love & Misadventures and Lullabies (and includes 35 unpublished ones). I was rather skeptical to get this book as it's not a regular one with a story and I've never taken an interest in poetry, but I took the plunge and have never looked back!
If you're like me and you love the idea of love, cheesy love films and any small cliche act of romance sweeps you off your feet, then you should probably read this book! The amazing cover alone makes me feel all giddy inside, it looks so precious, I want to treasure it and pass it on to my future-daughter!
Memories pretty much explains the thoughts that go through your head when you're in love, fall out of love, lose someone you love, miss someone you love and all the other love-related things in between. It has something for everyone and has made me shed many tears at how cute, relatable and honest it is. So many pages had me questioning if I'd written the book myself, I don't understand how someone who isn't me managed to capture my feelings better than I can! The best way to read Memories (or any book by Lang Leav) is in the evening, with a beautiful smelling candle, a slow instrumental playlist and a cup of tea!
I shall end this post with my two favourite poems, thanks for reading!
